Teaching Aims:
1.Be able to understand and say the words “lion” ,”angry” and the phrase “take away”.
2.Be able to understand and say the sentence patterns “ The dog is happy.” “The lion is angry.”  “Why are you so angry, lion?” and “The dog has taken away my bone.”
3.Be able to understand and sing the song of “The dog is happy.”

Headgears of animals, a toy peach, a ball, a book, a piece of candy, CAI materials.
Teaching Period: 40 minutes
Teaching Procedure
 I.Warm-up
1.Sing the song of “The swan is happy.”
2. Greetings:
T: Good morning.   Ss: Good morning.   T: How are you today?
Ss: Fine, thank you. How are you?   T: I am fine, too. Thank you.
3. Free talk:
  T: Look. I have a piece of candy. Here is a piece of candy for you.
S1: Thanks.
T: Are you happy?
S1: Yes.
T: Why are you so happy?
S1; I have a piece of candy.
II.Introduction
1.T: Now let’s meet two new friends.(Teacher shows students the CAI materials.)
T: What’s this?     Ss: It’s a dog.
T:Is the dog happy or sad?   Ss: The dog is happy.
T: Why is the dog so happy?   Ss: The dog has a bone.
Teacher asks one student to wear a headgear and act it out.
T: Why are you so happy, dog?
S: I have a bone.
2. Teacher shows students a picture of a lion.
T: What’s this?  It’s a lion. (Students learn to say “lion”.)  Is the lion happy?
Ss: No.           T: Is the lion sad?
Ss: No.           T: The lion is angry.  (Teacher pretends to be very angry. Students learn to say “angry”.  Teacher asks students to show the expression of being angry. ) T: The boy/girl/John is angry.
T: Today there are some animals in our classroom. They are playing hide and seek with us. Can you fine them out?
Students find out the pictures of animals. Then teacher shows students these pictures one by one.
3.Teacher asks several students to act the animals (Wear the headgear of animals.). Teacher whispers to one student, and asks the student to act according to teacher’s words.  Other students say the English: The duck is happy/ …
Teacher divides students into six teams. Team 1 is lion. Team 2 is dog, Team 3 is duck. Team 4 is bear. Team 5 is tiger. Team 6 is cat. Teacher says the dog/cat/duck is happy/sad/angry. The corresponding team will act it out.
4.Teacher takes away one student’s pencil and another student’s pencil-box. 
T: I take away A’s pencil /B’s pencil-box. 
Teacher asks students to take away the things teacher has taken.
   T:…, take away the …
Students learn to say “take away”.
5. T: Why is the lion so angry? Let’s ask the lion.
 Then teacher plays the video clip.
 T: The dog took away the bone.
6. Teacher asks students to look at the pictures and listen to the tape. Then students learn to say that sentence patterns.
7.Students try to act in groups of three. One acts the dog, one acts the lion, another one acts the reporter.
Teacher asks students to choose the best performers and give them some awards.
8. Teacher asks students to create some new dialogs.
   A: Why are you so angry,___?
    B: The ___ has taken away my ___ .
Student can use the headgears of animals and the things teacher has prepared, such as a toy peach, a ball, a book, etc.
9. Play a guessing game:
T: Look at this tiger. Is this tiger angry?
Ss: Yes.  T: Why is the tiger so angry? Let’s ask him.
Students practice the two sentences again.
T: Is the boy/girl/…  happy or angry?
Ss: The boy/girl/… is angry.
T: Why? Can you guess?
Ss: …  (Teacher can give the right student an award.)
10. Students learn to sing the song of “The dog is happy, Mr. Lion.”
III. Wrap-up
  Students make a new conversation by themselves.
IV.Homework
Students pay attention to their parents’ facial expression. If they are happy, ask them “Why are you so happy?”  If they are angry, ask them “Why are you so angry?”
